Good defensive player, frustrating offensively as he creates some good chances but lacks finish. Would be a nice fit on a checking/shutdown line.

I don't care one way or the other. Depth move, but this team has enough to worry about after taking the night off against arguably the worst team in the west.
No (frank)ing excuse losing to that pile of a team.

Maybe this is why Russo was saying Brodziak might be moved by the deadline. There are not enough curse words in the English language for me to watch two Brodziaks play for the Wild. I'll need to go crash course Rosetta Stone with some German, French, Italian, etc.

Me too. But Fletcher got a depth forward that likely fits this system pretty well for a low cost whereas he would likely have to deal this year's 2nd and a prospect for Vermette.

I'd say Fletcher may be trying to work other minor deals that would give him the pieces he needs to make him more comfortable paying the Vermette price.

I'm not sure where they are at contract-wise either. Getting Bergenheim without giving up a contract may have them at the 50 player limit now. So any further trades may have to include a player under contract. If we see some minor moves in the next few days it could be positioning to be able to pull the trigger on Vermette.

NHL Numbers has them at 51 but I'm guessing Almond may not count since he went back to Europe.

Why, the loss isn't on Dubynk. Wild decided they didn't need to start playing until the 3rd.

It will be interesting to see where he gets slotted in. I think it makes sense to pair him up with Koivu. Koivu seems to mesh well with hard-working, straight line players. I believe it was mentioned by Russo last night that they may have played a little together on a few Finnish WC teams too.

With a guy like Haula I could see Fletcher trying to flip Brodziak into a pick and then maybe trading a 2nd and Haula for Vermette. Not sure if that gets it done, but I could see the Wild trying to move forward with Koivu, Granlund, Vermette, and Coyle down the middle and possibly looking to keep it that way for next year. I'm not sure what Vermette will be looking for in free agency though.

At least 4.5-5 I'd imagine. Seeing how Graovac is the only center in the pipeline that is worth a damn, a 3 year deal wouldn't be the worst thing, but you know there is a GM out there that would probably give him 5 years. Sure would suck to give up a 2nd and Haula for a two month rental.
